Electroconvulsive Therapy, or ECT, is a medical treatment that has helped many people find relief from serious depression and bipolar disorder. It uses gentle carefully controlled electrical activity to support the brain’s natural healing process. The treatment is provided by a team that stays with you every step of the way and makes sure you are comfortable and cared for throughout the experience.

How This Approach Can Improve Daily Life

Patients often describe ECT as the first time they have felt real progress in their recovery. It can lift mood brighten energy and help people reconnect with parts of their life that depression or bipolar disorder may have taken from them. ECT has a long history of helping people feel more like themselves and it remains one of the most effective options for those facing severe mood symptoms.

When This Treatment May Be the Right Choice

ECT may be helpful for people who have been struggling for a long time with symptoms that make daily life feel overwhelming. It can offer support when medications or therapy have not brought enough improvement or when symptoms feel too heavy to manage alone. Many people who receive ECT have tried multiple treatments already and are looking for something that can truly make a difference.

ECT may be considered when symptoms are not improving enough with other treatments or when a quicker response is needed to help someone feel safe and stable. Your provider will take the time to learn about your experiences talk through your concerns and help you decide if ECT might be the right next step for you. The decision is always made together with care and respect.
