Removal of Suspicious Growths

Experts at St. Mary's Center for Hyperbaric and Wound Care remove lesions, moles, warts, and skin tags.

Check for Growths:
It's important to check all areas of your skin for new, unusual, or changing growths, especially if there is a history of skin cancer in your family. Don't forget to check your scalp and ears, too.

Assess Growths:
Any abnormal growth should be checked out by a healthcare professional.

Tell them about any changes, bleeding, increase in size, itching, or discoloration of the growth.

Schedule an Appointment:
Call the Center for Hyperbaric and Wound Care at (207) 777-8331 to schedule an appointment. We'll get you in within one week!

Growth Removal:
We'll discuss options for growth removal.

If the lesion is removed, we will send it to pathology for examination.

Depending on the method of removal, you may have 2 to 4 sutures.

Post Removal Care:
There are very few restrictions after this procedure. Any activity that prevents you from keeping the dressing clean and dry should be avoided. You will be given specific instructions for care by the nurse.
Follow up appointment in 10 days to remove sutures and review of your pathology report.

We'll share all treatments performed with your Primary Care Provider.
