How To Have A Good Lab Experience

Register:
You must ALWAYS register before having blood work or dropping off a specimen. Registering lets the phlebotomist know you are in the waiting area.

Delivering Specimens:
All specimens must have the patients name and their date of birth clearly printed on the container of the specimen. If the container is not labeled, the specimen will be rejected.

Medications:
Please ask your provider about continuing to take your medications before having blood tests.

Hydration/Fasting:
Drinking plenty of water, even when fasting, helps the phlebotomist locate your veins easier. Certain lab tests require you to be fasting for optimal results. This information may appear on your lab order, or can be verified with your provider.

Test Results:
Your lab results will be sent directly to the ordering provider. If you have any questions regarding your lab results, please speak with your provider.
