St. Mary's Regional Medical Center has an active Neurosciences program, with strong neurology and neurosurgery services. The Neurology Service is anchored by St. Mary's Neurology Associates, which focuses on care and problems of the nervous system. These include such concerns as multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, and migraine headaches. Their practice is located at 99 Campus Avenue in Lewiston. Two physicians see patients in this practice. Surgical services are provided by St. Mary's Neurosurgery, which is located in the Trolley Medical Building at 77 Bates Street in Lewiston. There are two neurosurgeons treating patients from this practice. A neurosurgeon - sometimes called a brain surgeon - is a specialized physician trained in surgery of the nervous system. This training includes surgery on the brain, spinal cord, or other parts of the nervous system.
