Our Midwives

3_women_whaWhether your birth plan includes natural birth in a warm pool of water, or require a form of anesthesia (epidural), our midwives will be there to support you. We work as a team with a wonderful group of obstetricians and perinatologists. If complications arise either during pregnancy or delivery, you don’t lose your midwife. You get the benefit of a skilled team, working together to provide excellence in care for you and your baby. We believe in supporting women to have normal labors. We assure women are partners in decision making about pregnancy, labor, and birth. This philosophy is the center of our care and is shared by the doctors and staff who work with us.

Midwifery is more than birthing babies, it's complete well-woman care! "I'm always surprised that people think of midwives only in terms of maternity care and home births," said Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) Jean Kahn. "Midwifery has come a long way over the decades. Bringing home a baby is a wonderfully exciting time," said Chris Gillis, CNM at Women's Health Associates, "and we are proud to participate in this with so many families.”

Focused on wellness, Nurse-Midwives are highly trained specialists in normal pregnancy, birth, post-partum period and women’s health. Our Certified Nurse Midwives hold a Master’s degree and licenses as advanced practice nurses. Some have continued on to obtained Doctorate degrees. They are certified by the American College of Nurse Midwives, and have graduated from accredited programs.
