What is a Mammogram party?

You have heard of Tupperware parties...cooking parties...makeup parties .... St. Mary's Women's Imaging Department is proud to announce Mammogram Parties! A mammogram party is a private event to lessen the anxiety about breast cancer screenings, have fun with friends and ensure those around you get checked annually. The parties are held at the Women's Imaging Department at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. The party will be provided in a relaxed atmosphere that creates a more pleasant mammogram experience for everyone who attends. St. Mary's will provide:

  • Food & Beverages
  • Educational demonstrations of the Liv breast self exam device
  • Giveaways and FUN!

Why should I be a hostess?

A screening mammogram is the best way to detect early breast cancer. Hosting a mammogram party shows your friends, family, neighbors or coworkers that you care about their health. Anyone age 40 and over can host a mammogram party. You can have up to 6 attendees over the age of 40 who will be screened in order for the party to take place. We except all major insurance plans, in addition to self-pay patients. We offer self-pay patients a discount at the time of service.

What happens at the event?

You and your guests will mix and mingle, enjoying snacks, beverages and goody bags. There will be a certified female technologist dedicated to your event to provide private screenings and answer any questions you may have during your exam. The exam itself will take less than 15 minutes. You will be contacted about your screening results by phone or mail within 1 week. Do not be alarmed if you are called back for additional imaging. In some cases, you may need to have additional mammogram views or an ultrasound to clarify findings. This occurs only 5 -15 % of the time and most of the time the results are normal.
