Midwifery is more than birthing babies, it's complete well-woman care! "I'm always surprised that people think of midwives only in terms of maternity care and home births," said Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) Jean Kahn. "Midwifery has come a long way over the decades. The midwives at Women's Health Associates provide a wide array of services to women in all stages of life, including prenatal, maternity (in the hospital!), postpartum, and primary care."

Improving the health of women goes deeper than treating physical ailments and preventative medicine. It's listening to women's concerns and helping get them the support they need. "Bringing home a baby is a wonderfully exciting time," said Chris Gillis, CNM at Women's Health Associates, "but it can also be a stressful experience to provide all the items necessary to care for that bundle of joy."

The midwives at Women's Health Associates have earned master's degrees in their profession and are trained in nursing. They have passed national and state licensing exams to become certified. They perform specialty birthing services such as waterbirth, and are supported by OB/GYNs within the practice.
