Our Mission

Healing Care for the Whole Person

At St. Mary’s Health System our Mission is to provide healing care for the whole person in service to all in our communities, which is why offering a healing presence and guidance to support the well-being of patients, their families and health care staff is very important to us.

The entire Mission team wholeheartedly believes an integral part of care is meeting the spiritual and religious needs of our patients regardless of their beliefs, traditions or spirituality. We offer patients appropriate prayer, comfort and support to help facilitate healing, recovery and peace.

Consult not your fears, but your hopes and dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself, not with what you tried and failed in, but what it is still possible to do. Now is the time to put aside past and present setbacks and failures and look with confidence to the new day called tomorrow. – Pope Saint John XXIII

The Marcotte Chapel at St. Mary’s Residences is located on the fourth floor and is accessible by the elevators at d’Youville Pavilion. Catholic liturgies are celebrated in this Chapel and it is available throughout the day for prayer and reflection.

Mass is celebrated at 9:30 AM in the St. Mary’s Marcotte Chapel. The Mass can be viewed in patient rooms on Channel 2.

A small meditation room is located in the hallway between the Emergency Room and the Operating Room at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.  This meditation room offers a quiet refuge for patients and families.

Our mission, vision and values and identity as a Catholic health system guide our practices. Our value of Integrity calls us to promote ethical behavior throughout the health system.

Mission In Action

The Mission Integration department at St. Mary’s Health System supports programs both in the hospital and in the community.

St. Mary’s Nutrition Center

The St. Mary’s Nutrition Center places value in strengthening community connections, addressing root causes, nurturing a sense of place, and facilitating a deeper commitment to equity across our community.

Celebrating our Heritage and Mission

In 1888, the Sisters of Charity of Saint-Hyacinthe established a healing ministry to meet the needs of this community.  In the spirit of the Sisters and their foundress, St. Marguerite d’Youville, St. Mary’s Health System continues its unwavering commitment to provide holistic care, offered with respect and compassion, for all in our community.

Each year, we celebrate our heritage and founding during Mission Week. It’s a special celebration that honors our employees and includes reflection, receptions with their founding orders and volunteer activities. Most of the facilities in the Covenant Health system celebrate the legacy of St. Marguerite d’Youville, the Sisters of Charity of Montreal and St. Hyacinthe, Canada, “Grey Nuns”.
