Inpatient Services

The Adolescent Psychiatric Unit is a 14-bed unit treating patients between the ages of 12 and 18. The average length of stay on the Adolescent Unit is 7-10 days.

The Children's Psychiatric Unit is a separate 8-bed unit that treats patients between the ages of 5 and 12. The average length of stay on the Children's Unit is 10-14 days.

Both units provide treatment for individuals struggling with a variety of psychiatric disorders including depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD and psychotic disorders. Patients are admitted to the inpatient units when they require a safe setting and are not appropriate for less restrictive alternatives.

Our unit staff includes Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists, Nurses, Case Managers (Masters Level Social Workers and Counselors), Behavioral Technicians, Recreation Therapists, Teachers and Pastoral Care. Our patients are expected to work with the hospital staff on their psychiatric issues and participate in individual sessions, group therapies and family meetings.

Both units provide structured treatment with a daily schedule of groups, school and individual sessions. The Adolescent Unit utilizes DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and incorporates a four step level system. The Children's Unit uses the “1-2-3 Magic” and the “Caught You Being Good” system for behavioral interventions.

Referrals to the Adolescent or Children's Unit can be initiated by calling our Intake Office at 777-8700. The Intake Office is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
