Dear St. Mary’s Family,
We are writing to let you know that St. Mary’s Health System and MaineHealth are entering into a more streamlined cooperative agreement in response to a fast-changing environment for healthcare delivery in Maine and beyond. We plan to end the joint venture we established in 2021 and return to an affiliate relationship similar to the one we had previously.
As part of this new arrangement, some practice operations at St. Mary’s will be shifted to other locations, or in some cases, patients will be referred to new providers. Urology, ENT, cardiology, vascular surgery, and general surgery will continue at St. Mary’s.
The current oncology provider at St. Mary’s is relocating to Mid Coast-Parkview Health, and as a result, that practice at St. Mary’s will close on July 1, 2024. To accommodate the transition, St. Mary’s oncology will stop accepting new patients beginning April 1, 2024. All patients will be provided options to transition their care within the region, and outreach is underway to assure a smooth transition for them. The Infusion Center at St. Mary’s will remain open for non-oncological services.
We want to emphasize that this retooling of our relationship does not change the fact that we regard our MaineHealth colleagues as important partners committed to delivering high-quality care to people in Lewiston-Auburn and surrounding communities.
