St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion Receives Innovation Award - St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston recently received the 2012 Celebrating Excellence in Innovation Award during a recognition ceremony held at the Augusta Civic Center. Sponsored by the Maine Health Care Association (MHCA), the Celebrating Excellence in Innovation Award is given annually to long term care providers that have designed and implemented an outstanding program that has demonstrated success in improving resident quality of life/care, enhancing employee development and relationships or engaging community members or groups in facility life.St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion was recognized for its Fall Prevention Program. St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion Nurse Earns State Award - Kristina Boilard a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston was recently honored at the Blaine House along with eighteen other outstanding caregivers from across the state. Kristina was chosen to receive the Excellence In Long-Term Care Award, from the Maine Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program. Award recipients are employed in nursing homes, residential care, or home care. Excellence in End-of-Life Care Award - Beacon Hospice looks for hospice care champions in all settings where we provide end-of-life care. The nominated provider must embody the following characteristics: - Communicates sensitively with the patient and the patient's loved ones, listening carefully, showing empathy and instilling a sense of hope; - Demonstrates professional team work and collaboration with Beacon staff; -Promotes ongoing continuing education; - Provides access to the hospice benefit; - Is seen as an advocate for quality End-of-Life care. 2012 Innovation Award from LeadingAge - St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion, in Lewiston, Maine recently earned the prestigious 2012 Innovation Award from LeadingAge. LeadingAge is a national association representing 5,500 nonprofit aging-services organizations. Its members are dedicated to providing the services that people need, when they need them, in the place they call home. St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion Earns a Five-Star Quality Rating - St. Mary's d'Youville received the highest quality rating - five out of five stars – from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). This national quality rating system was created by CMS to help consumers and their families compare and choose a quality nursing facility. The rating system is based on health inspections, staffing, and quality measures to achieve an overall rating. Additional stars are earned for excellence in staffing and quality care. A five-star designation means St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion is “much above average” in these categories. (May 2012) Read more . . .

Celebrating Excellence in Caregiving Award - Colleen Michel, Staffing Coordinator at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston, recently received the 2011 Celebrating Excellence in Caregiving Award. Sponsored by MHCA, the Celebrating Excellence in Caregiving Award is given annually to a number of long term care employees statewide who have consistently exemplified a commendable level of caregiving, dedication, and professionalism in caring for the state’s elderly and disabled citizens living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Certification in Gerontological Nursing - St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion is proud to announce Katherine Walker-Leighton, RN has earned her certification in Gerontological Nursing from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Gerontological nurses care for older adults focusing on maximizing their functional abilities while promoting, maintaining, or restoring their physical and mental health. Maine Health Care Association’s Innovative Program Award - St. Mary's d'Youville received this award for its Patient/Resident Centered Staffing Model and a Quality Award for their Readmission Reduction Plan, both of which are a true testament to the facility's evidence-based and best practices approach. Dorland Health Silver Crown Awards Honorable Mention - The Rehab Center at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion has been recognized with an ”Honorable Mention” in Dorland Health’s annual Silver Crown awards competition. The award was announced on March 8 at Dorland’s annual conference in Las Vegas, NV. St. Mary’s Rehab Center was recognized in the Long Term Care category for “creating a comfortable, private healing environment for patients during their time of need between hospital stays and home care.” (March 2011)

Three-year Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) Accreditation - Awarded to St. Mary's d'Youville Pavilion Rehab Center. (November 2010)
CRRN - Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion and its parent organization, St. Mary’s Health System, wish to congratulate Lori Fortier, Amanda Lednum, Cathy Ouellette, and Sarah Trafford for their achievement in becoming Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurses (CRRN). This certification from the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses shows colleagues, patients, and the public they are committed to excellence in caring for people with physical disabilities and chronic illnesses. It indicates that they are experienced rehabilitation and restorative nurses who have achieved a level of knowledge in this practice area.
Excellence in Long Term Care Award - Reagan Baker has been working as a CNA and Restorative Aide at d’Youville since 2004. Raegan displays an extraordinary level of detail to our elders every day. She provides restorative programming to those in need, as quoted from her supervisor, “Raegan is flexible, she will work as a CNA when needed and can also cover two floors as a Restorative Aide, prioritizing her schedule to accommodate the need. Raegan has broad shoulders and can work with the most challenging of care needs and still leave smiling.”

Maine Health Care Association Quality Improvement Award -St. Mary's d'Youville Pavilion was recognized for making quality improvements and culture-based advances in care-giving. To receive the award, facilities must show achievements in staff retention, consistent assignment, clinical quality measures, and customer satisfaction.

Quality First Award from the American Health Care Association for significant improvements made to the quality of patient care at d’Youville Pavilion.
