What
is the AH! Asthma Health Program?
The
AH! Program can provide you with:
If
you have asthma, be sure to:
- Visit your healthcare provider every six months and have a
current Maine
Asthma Action Management Plan, like the one inside this
pamphlet.
- If you have a school-aged child with asthma, he or she needs
a current Maine
Asthma School Plan, filled out once a year by your child's
healthcare provider.
- Get a flu shot every year in the fall. Flu symptoms can make
your asthma worse.
- Talk with your healthcare provider about seeing an Asthma
Educator to review your asthma plan and get tips on how to live
a healthy and active life with asthma.
- If you smoke cigarettes, think seriously about quitting. Second
hand smoke can make asthma worse for you and your children.
If you are not ready to quit, smoke only outside, away from
others limiting secondhand smoke exposure. You can get
help with quitting from
St. Mary's Prevention and Wellness Department 777-8898 or the
Maine Tobacco HelpLine, 1-800-207-1230.
