We understand that body weight affects your health, but losing weight
and keeping it off is hard. The Weight Management Intensive Outpatient
Program at St. Mary’s offers ongoing support to help you lose
weight and keep it off.
Who
is involved in the program?
Instructors include a dietitian, exercise specialist, counselor,
psychologist & nurse. A medical director oversees the program
and a psychiatrist is available on a consultant basis.
What is the time commitment?
First, you attend classes for 3½-hours per day, 3-days per
week for 3-weeks. Next, you attend weekly group therapy sessions
for 4-weeks. Then, you attend monthly nutrition group sessions for
4-months. Fitness evaluations are completed at six months and
1-year.
Who is eligible for the program?
The Weight Management Program is for people 18-years and older that
need to lose weight for medical reasons.
If your Body Mass Index (BMI) is 40 or more, you are eligible for
the program. You’re also eligible if your BMI is 30 or more
and you have one of more weight related health risk, like diabetes,
high blood pressure, heart disease, high cholesterol, sleep apnea
or osteoarthritis.
How can I participate?
Call your primary care physician for a referral. After we receive
the referral we will call you to complete the next steps.
