The complexity is significantly reduced with the assistance of a trained navigator. As a certified navigator, Dorothy guides a patient through the breast imaging and breast cancer stages with assistance from her facility’s integrated team members. She ensures her patient receives timely exam results and is scheduled for appropriate follow-up care or the next routine imaging exam.
The National Consortium of Breast Centers promotes excellence in breast health care through a network of diverse professionals. It facilitates collaborative research opportunities on issues of breast health and has developed a set of core measures to define, improve, and sustain quality standards in breast health care programs and for quality performance in all types of breast health care facilities.
