St. Mary's Regional Medical Center's Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is designed to provide comprehensive care to individuals who have recently experienced a cardiac event or require cardiac risk factor modification.Our services are available in a facility with state-of-the-art exercise equipment at St.Mary's Auburn Campus at 15 Gracelawn. You will find easy parking, easy access to the building and a bright cheerful space for your rehab exercise and counseling. Our team consists of specially trained nurses, respiratory therapists, exercise physiologists, woking under physician guidance. Our medically supervised team works with you to develop a treatment plan to meet your needs.
We know that your quality of life can be affected by your heart disease. That is why we are doing all we can to make your rehabilitation safe and effective. At St. Mary's Cardiac Rehab program you will find caring, helpful staff, a workable and personalized exercise program and a healthy environment that will get you back on the road to better health. Our goals are to help patients control and alleviate symptoms, optimize functional capacity, and improve quality of life.
Your physician may refer you to a cardiac rehabilitation program if you have recently experienced:
- Angina (chest discomfort)
- Heart by-pass, valve surgery, or transplantation
- Myocardial Infarction (heart attack)
This is the outpatient recovery phase. The program of exercise, education, and counseling is designed by our team of health care professionals to meet your specific needs and goals for promoting cardiovascular health. It lasts for approximately 3 to 6 months and includes ECG monitoring.
Our exercise classes meet on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for eight to twelve weeks. During each exercise session participants of this program will wear a cardiac monitor, which allows the clinicians to assess your heart rate and rhythm through ECG monitoring. Exercise training will include stretching, aerobic, and strength training exercises. Weekly educational classes are also offered. Our initial evaluation will help us determine a program that meets and adapts to your individual needs.
Education is an important component to promoting cardiovascular health. These sessions help you and your family member learn about healthy lifestyle habits. Group sessions as well as individual counseling are available to address these important aspects:

- Medication & Risk Factor Modification
- Motivation & Setting Goals
- Anatomy and Physiology of Heart
- Smoking Cessation
How do I get started?
The earlier you take charge of your health, the sooner you can see improvements in your daily life. Our staff is happy to assist you in enrolling in the program. Your cardiologist or primary care physician will need to send a referral. Our program is covered by most insurance programs for specific conditions with a referral form from a qualified medical provider. This program is designed for participants who want to continue with cardiovascular exercises upon completion of Phase II exercise training. Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This program includes regular monitoring by the cardiac rehab staff.
The Phase III program is not covered by medical insurance program. Your out of pocket expense is $28 per month.
St. Mary's Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation - AACVPR.
