Pediatric Sleep Disorders
Young or old, sleep disorders can impact people of all ages. Specialized care for pediatric sleep disorders is available right here in central Maine. Our two Board certified sleep physicians, Dr. Thad Shattuck and Dr. Richard Kahn treat the full spectrum of pediatric sleep disorders, including behavioral and circadian issues impacting sleep. We also have a Family Nurse Practitioner, Lauren Blais, FNP, whose practice is devoted solely to treating sleep disorders.
Pediatric Sleep Disorder Services
- Consultations for sleep apnea, snoring, insomnia, unusual nocturnal movements and behaviors, and behavioral issues affecting sleep
- In-lab sleep studies in an AASM-accredited sleep facility, offering comfortable rooms that can accommodate a parent. In-lab studies are done under the supervision of board-certified polysomnography technicians, who have experience doing pediatric sleep studies.
- Actigraphy monitoring, which involves wearing a watch-like device that detects sleep, activity, and light exposure, allowing long-term assessment of sleep patterns while patients maintain their normal daily routines and sleep in their home environment.
Our philosophy when treating a patient with sleep issues is to create a treatment plan that includes the whole family. This is true of all patients, especially when our patient is a child.
