Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) Program

In the state of Maine, opiate use is at an all-time high. NAS occurs in newborns when a mother is addicted to or treated with opioids during her pregnancy. The neonatal abstinence syndrome refers to a postnatal opioid withdrawal syndrome.
St. Mary's Women's Health Associates work with colleagues from St. Mary’s Behavioral Health and Case Management Departments to offer support, healing, and hope. This program helps pregnant women safely end their drug use and go on to deliver healthy babies. The program explores the many issues of addiction to help break down the barriers to staying sober.
All Are Welcome
Many women struggling with addiction hesitate to seek help because they are ashamed. Our staff offers compassionate and respectful care. All are welcome, without judgment.
