Stephen M. Costello 
Executive Director of Philanthropy

Steve joined St. Mary’s in May 2019 after a 35-year career in publishing as a local business owner. Having grown up in Lewiston-Auburn, he brings with him many years of experience living and working in L/A. Steve is responsible for sharing St. Mary’s vision with donors, as well as fostering and securing business and community support for the hospital. Having served on various civic and health care boards throughout Maine, he understands the need for business partnerships and philanthropy. Steve and his wife Mary Ellen met in college at Rochester Institute of Technology, have 3 grown children and live in Lewiston with their faithful dog Scout.

Brad Coffey
Senior Vice President & President, Covenant Health Foundation

Brad leads philanthropy for Covenant Health Foundation and its members, including St. Mary's. Brad joined us in 2015 after spending 15 years raising philanthropic support for healthcare and higher education. He has been an attorney licensed to practice law in Maine since 1993 and is a graduate of the George Washington University and the University of Maine School of Law.  He and his wife reside in Bangor, and they have three children, Madeleine, Gabriel and Tobias.

Deb became an employee of St. Mary’s way back in 1977!  Born at St. Mary’s, Deb was raised in and still resides in Auburn.  Over the course of her career, she has worked in many departments at St. Mary’s and transitioned to the Foundation Office in 2001.  Here, she’s found her “second home.”  Deb has been married to Lenny for over 40 years and, together, they enjoy spending time with their daughter, Darcy, and two grandchildren, Danica and Brody, as well as caring for a household full of pets!

Interim Director of Grants Administration, Covenant Health Foundation

Nicole joined St. Mary’s in August 2020 as a Grants Associate and started in her new role in January 2021; managing overall grant services for Covenant member organizations. After a 20-year career in international development, Nicole returned to Auburn with an understanding of the importance of collaborative effort and quality grant management to secure new funding. Nicole earned her Master of International and Intercultural Management from the School for International Training and her undergraduate degree from Boston University. Nicole met her husband Akibou Djonouma during her time as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Chad and they have two sons.
