Making an Impact with Care & Compassion

The Campaign for St. Mary’s

Latest Update – January 7, 2022

We care deeply about the environment in which ALL our patients receive their care. Because of the success of the most recent Capital Campaign, three new state-of-the-art spaces at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center have been realized.

Phase 1 – Child and Adolescent Behavioral Unit – Opened Spring 2018

Our youngest behavioral patients are receiving care in an exceptional environment in our Pediatric Behavioral Unit.  Because of the features and design of the new space, there is an increase in responsiveness to treatment and shorter inpatient stays.

Phase 2 – Infusion Center – Opened Summer 2020

Patients in need of infusion therapy to address a variety of medical disorders such as cancer, autoimmune diseases, blood disorders, and rheumatoid arthritis are receiving treatment in comfortable and private bays in the new Infusion Center. Infusion Center Virtual Walk Through

Phase 3 – The Carlton and Lucille Sedgeley Adult Behavioral Unit – Opened December 2021

The third and final phase of the Making an Impact with Care & Compassion Capital Campaign for St. Mary’s is complete.  Construction of the Carlton and Lucille Sedgeley Adult Behavioral Unit was finished on November 29, and patients, providers, and staff moved into the unit on December 29, 2021.

This space, designed in collaboration with behavioral patients, will provide inpatient behavioral health care to up to 18 patients in 14 single rooms and 2 double rooms.Five of those rooms are equipped to provide medical care to more medically complex patients, eliminating the need to move patients outside the unit.

  • Each patient room has a private bathroom with a shower.
  • Each patient room has a tv for personal viewing.
  • Patients have locked storage space in their rooms and a place to store personal food and drink items in a Nourishment Room adjacent to the Dining/Multipurpose Room.
  • Patients can have supervised internet access in the Media Room and opportunities to check out their personal mobile devices in the Phone Area.
  • A new patient laundry area will encourage patient responsibility and independence.
  • Patients can gather for quiet activities in the spacious Serenity Room featuring exceptional views and natural lighting.
  • A Dining/Multipurpose room with large screen tv can be used for both dining and robust group activities.
  • An Exam Room is equipped for clinical exams and minor medical procedures.
  • A negative pressure room on the unit will allow providers to isolate and treat behavioral patients with infectious diseases.

Patient responsiveness to treatment will improve and collaboration among providers and staff will be far more efficient.  St. Mary’s extends immense gratitude to the many caring entities and individuals who made this space a reality.  The funding for this project was made possible by the generosity of employees, foundations, businesses, and individual community members who joined us in our efforts to create a space that supports the respect for and healing of our most vulnerable patients.  THANK YOU!
