Nutrition Center Soirée

This year we took the Soirée to a whole new level of culinary excellence, atmosphere, and youth and community engagement!

We began the evening at 5:30pm at St. Mary’s Nutrition Center with hors d’oeuvres prepared by our very own youth gardeners and cooks. They have spent the summer growing vegetables and herbs in local gardens, learning about nutrition and cooking healthy meals together. Many paired these “apps” with an expertly chosen glass of wine or craft beer and take a tour around the Center. Many were amazed at everything the Nutrition Center does—from operating a Food Pantry that serves over 500 people a week, to the Lots to Gardens program which manages a dozen urban community gardens and empowers local young people, to the Good Food Bus which makes fresh, high-quality food available to people in downtown Lewiston-Auburn and beyond.

After our cocktail hour, we moved across the street to the magnificent and newly restored Agora Grand Event Center, for dinner, music and some delicious surprises!

Zach Pratt of Boba presented his famous Vietnamese noodle soup, pho, and Tripp’s Farmhouse Café showcased their gluten-free delicacies. Guests were then invited to a full sit-down dinner featuring local and seasonal specialties, catered by Erin Dow of Eatswell.

Proceeds support the St. Mary’s Nutrition Center which promotes community health through organizing, advocacy, and education. It is home to an emergency food pantry, urban community garden programs, youth leadership programs, the Lewiston Farmers’ Market and Good Food Bus, and cooking and nutrition education programs for adults, teens, and kids.

Support of St. Mary’s Nutrition Center goes directly toward making good food more easily accessible to our community, supporting key programs that help youth learn responsibility and provide job training, and creating a healthier and more vibrant community—for all of us.  To learn more about the Nutrition Center, contact or 207-513-3848 and check out our latest e-newsletter.
